About Me

The Full Story

My bookkeeping journey began when my husband started his own irrigation business in 2017. Our CPA advised that it would be in our best financial interest to take care of the bookkeeping ourselves. I learned the ins and outs of QuickBooks Desktop in order to run the business finances and made sure we were ready for tax season every year. In 2020 we transitioned to QuickBooks Online.

During this time, I was working a 9-5 in banking. In this role, I aided my customers in all things financial, from opening accounts to creating a budget. I helped them improve their credit scores and apply for loans both personal and business related. But, like all working moms, I found myself torn between my career and home life. As our daughter gets older and goes up in grade, her schoolwork increases and she wants to spend more time doing extra-curricular activities. With my schedule and my husband’s business growth, that just wasn’t going to be possible. So, something had to give. One day a customer of mine at the bank came in and was decrying the fact that his bookkeeper was leaving him and he didn’t even know where to start looking for a new one. And, as they say…the rest is history.

Since then, I have taken several courses to learn the nuances of QuickBooks and am a QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor. I work with Wave Accounting Software as well.

I have worked with clients in several different types of businesses, from retail to construction. Having grown up around the mining industry and having worked in retail, service, and hospitality, I believe I have a good grasp on what it takes to run these types of businesses. I am also a relentless researcher. If I don’t know it, I’ll figure it out. The problem solving aspect of being a bookkeeper is my favorite part of the role.

What I didn’t know would happen when I started on this journey was how much I would love the work itself. Helping someone with their business brings me more joy than I could have ever imagined. And, I get to do that while being with my family.

If I sound like someone you might like to work with, please give me a call. I pride myself on giving you honesty and integrity. If I think you aren’t at the point where you need to hire me, I will tell you.  If I think you need to go straight to a CPA or EA, I will tell you. Consultations are free, either by phone or in person, though I prefer a face to face conversation. I look forward to working together!!
